The ExplicitWeb Podcast

The ExplicitWeb Podcast

For a long time, I’ve been disappointed with the quality of the currently available web design podcasts. I longed for something a little shorter and a little more down-to-earth. I got chatting to my good friends @erisds and @robhawkes a couple of months ago about this… and it turned out that they felt the same way.

Introducing ExplicitWeb

On the 9th of March 2010: Rob, Hannah and myself recorded the pilot episode of our brand new podcast, called @ExplicitWeb. We aren’t trying to do anything revolutionary and we aren’t trying to change the world. All we want to do is record some good content, have a good time, and hopefully get to meet a few new people.

Every couple of weeks we record an episode where each one of us does a 10 minute segment on… well.. whatever we feel like. Soon we’ll be getting guests on the show and coming up with some new features which we hope will be truly superb.

The point of all this is that it’s quick, easy and, most importantly, fun!

What Do You Think?

I would absolutely love it if you would check us out on iTunes, have a listen, see what you think – and subscribe! You could even leave us a review if you’re feeling really giving :)

one question… Is swearing a trend thing? do You think it makes You cool or something? Down to earth, funny and casual is one thing… but being vulgar is just random :(

One question, have you actually bothered to listen to an episode? No? Ok, come back when you have, then we’ll talk :)

    • Rob Hawkes says:

As Stephen Fry once said, “the sort of twee person who thinks swearing is in any way a sign of a lack of education or of a lack of verbal interest is just fucking lunatic. Or they say, ‘It’s not necessary.’ As if that should stop one doing it. Things not being necessary is what makes life interesting.”

Grow up and tune out if you don’t like swearing. We want to be ourselves on the show and if that includes the odd swear word then so be it, the explicit tag is there for a reason. It’s not like we’re effing and blinding throughout the entire show.

      Some people… *rolls eyes*

I’ve been listening to the first few episodes. Good stuff!

I personally prefer LONGER podcasts that I can play in the background for a whole afternoon. I feel the quick chats leave something to be desired. I wish podcasts like 37Signals would increase in length, even if it means less frequent shows.

Listening to episode 1 right now, ironically it’s playing while I’m struggling uploading a site from MAMP to a live server. Thought it was me being useless, but glad to see you’ve had the same sort of configuration problems.

Looking forward to listening to the rest of them – good job!

Am downloading your podcast now. Found your site after reading your WordPress 3.0 article on web designer depot – awesome article.

I totally agree with you on the podcast front. The only ones I find worth listening to consistently are 37 Signals and Boagworld (although Boagworld has it’s ups and downs).

Can’t wait to hear the podcast. Great idea to break it down and say what you want.
