My email marketing tips would be:
1. Know your customers and what they want to hear about.
2. Send them interesting emails that help them, not just sales messages.
3. Get your subject lines right - don't be too salesy.
4. Track, test and track test.
5. Don't overdo it. Once every 2 weeks is enough.
6. Integrate with other marketing eg advertising, dm etc.

Wow, they really do put some decent quality into those kits, huh? I've always been impressed with the books I've bought from SitePoint, but these kits are a notch up again.

Looking forward to your reviews, mate. Will be very interesting...

I've been involved in email marketing on a number of occasions, but usually as an implementer for other marketing professionals.

'Citing!!
